Aims of the course

The participants will explore strategies from idea to proposal development and will learn to develop an own draft proposal.

The two-day workshop will cover the following features:

Day 1:
At first an overview about research funding activities in Germany will be provided. How much money is given to do research, which part of this money can be used for research at universities? Which funding organisations supply money for which purposes?

Participants will also learn about ways to efficiently collect targeted information about funding opportunities and eligibility criteria and they will receive insight into application procedures of funding organisations.

At the end of the day participants will get the opportunity to work out a draft exposé to be discussed and presented the next day. Three kinds of application should be trained: fellowship, project funding, funding for organising conferences.

Day 2:
Participants will read and discuss the respective abstracts.

Individual presentations and feedback conclude the workshop.
