International Symposium "Signalling Meets Synthetic Biology"
Biological signalling processes control the growth, differentiation and death of cells. Understanding these processes is a key to understanding physiology and pathology.
In recent years, analytical research exploring signalling processes has increasingly been complemented by synthetic approaches. The engineering of the signal-transduction machinery has enabled not only the functional reconstruction and characterisation of isolated signalling pathways, but also the control of cell fate and function.
At this symposium the Centre for Biological Signalling Studies (BIOSS) in Freiburg will bring scientists from signalling science and synthetic biology together. In this interdisciplinary environment, we will discuss novel strategies of how synthetic approaches can deepen our insight into signalling processes and how pathologic signals can be detected and corrected in order to develop novel therapeutic strategies.
